Serial Key Help

Just downloaded the 1.1 beta patch, and it's asking me to activate the patch using my serial key. Bad thing is, i accidentaly threw away the jewel case with the code.

what i'm asking is if there is a file on my computer where my serial key would be stored, perhaps a .ini file or something? any help would be appreciated.

Are you using stardock central for the updates? It sounds as if you may not be so then the next question is have you registered a character with the metaverse? I believe you had to enter the key then. You can go to stardock and sign in and click to have your codes sent to you. If you are using stardock central you can get the code by clicking the registration info in the right of bottom taskbar.

Download and install Stardock Central.

Go to Tools - Lookup Serial Number.

Enter your email address that you used to register GalCiv2. Within a few minutes Stardock will email you the serial numbers for all the games you've registered with them.

i'm pretty sure that's only if you entered your serial during or after installation. So if you didn't enter it before you threw it out, you're horribly unlucky. If it doesn't work i suppose you could try emailing stardock and hope they'll send you one with a proof of purchase or something.

I didn't register the game, thinking that I would keep the CD key or that, in the case that it was thrown out, that I would not have to re-enter it if I updated the game.

I emailed them, but I suspect that they won't be able to do much, considering I don't have any proof other than the fact that on my stardock central thing it says that I have galciv 1.1 installed.

Oh well, the game was fun while it lasted.

Well, if you have entered it during the installation, it should be in the registries key. Have you tried to look in : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock?

well, that is bad since Stradock has a policy of 1 year of free update. There would be other updates.

Well, you are wrong:
- if you download updates from the site, the serial key is required
- if you use SDC, it needs the serial key.

BTW, since SDC shows the 1.1 version, have your tried to look into Tools->Settings-> Games and displaying registration information for GC2. Who knows?

Tristin, your serial number has been sent to you in email. You can also obtain your serial number from https://www.galciv2.com/registration.aspx (it should auto fill in your serial number in the field for you if it is registered). Or you can go to https://www.stardock.com/support.asp to have your serial number emailed to you.
