Anybody got any worms?

OK, I can get through the first hundred turns or so no problems, my people love me, I'm doing great. But then my popularity starts to plummet, even though I've got Virtual Reality on every planet and my tax rates are under 10%. Thing is, some planets remain at 100% approval while some go down to around 40%.

What am I doing wrong? Is this kind of like in Civ where I need to keep military units in orbit around a planet in order to keep people in line?

Hover you mouse over approval on the planet screen it shows a breakdown.

Also note the larger populations get "overcrowded" on the planet and get less happy. No way around this except stop building farms or build more entertainment.

As far as I know miliray doesn't help moral.

Overcrowding is probably the reason. If you build multiple farms (or even one farm on a resource bonus tile) your people can get super-pissed.
