After reading the reviews on IGN about this game and dying to play a 4x game ever since i lost my master of orion 3 disks....
The Good -
1) i was sold on the idea of designing ships and already lost a few hours of my life.
2) Graphics!
The Bad -
1) When a planet finishes all social projects (nothing left to build) it still eats up money / uses social spending. I have read somewhere on a dev post that in the future patch this may be resolved simply by converting social production to military production. I really hope so! Or, turn off social production on the planet once its finished (much like military production that is idle/no starport)
2) Mars (class 4) can never reach 5b people, or even with extra farms on the tiles it can never exceed 2.63b pop? I cant seem to find any info on what limits the planet population..... Class # only helps with how many tiles available. Some info on the planet size or what affects max population (because even advanced farms wont raise the cap on mars...) would be nice....
The Ugly -
1) If you adjust the star density of the game (from default 1500, to 0), the game would crash every time while loading your latest saved game (that was saved with star density 1500) ... the saved game can be used again if you simply readjust the star density back to 1500 and the game no longer crashes while attempting to load it.
2) Massive capital ships (large and huge hulls) exhibit spastic behavior in space combat. They would twitch and spin/rotate like a small ship while trying to shoot small enemy ships. Cannot best describe with words, but the large/huge ship would rotate 15-30 degrees back and forth in a 'twitching motion' in a span of only a few seconds. - If possible, watch a fleet of large/huge ships fight a fleet of fighters and you'll know what im talking about.
--- begs the devs to fix this... lol
(The picture in my mind tells me that big lumbering ships should never rotate spastically unless it needs to turn around/facing change, and it should float like a rock in space and shoots without moving much .... You never see the USS Enterprise spinning frantically to shoot other ships, or a Star Destroyer going spastic when its surrounded by xwings....)
3) Glitch? When the United Planets votes and passes a law on a minimum speed on constructors (something like 5 parsecs a month) it will gimp all the latest designs. A constructor with 43/43 parsecs a week can only move 9/9. Will post this on the Glitch thread....
Anyways, to all the staff/devs, keep up the great work and I look forward to the constant update/patches.
