I played a game as the Korx using the Yor style ships. I created three ships name the Saturn, Thanatos, and the Hammerhead. Now I then saved all those user created ships, and then started a new game. In this game I played as the same race with a different ship style, namely the altarian. Now I look and see my user created ships are all sorts of *&$cked up. I believe it might be a problem with attempting to render the ship with components that aren't there and some that are and the game just doing the best it can. Well I just wanted to let you guys know about this if it is indeed a bug.
