Starbase surprise

I didn't notice a post of this instance anywhere on the forums so far, so I figured why not make a bug report. I know that you will probably want some machine information, but I'm nothing more than a videogame player on this computer and know absolutely nothing of how to pull up reports on the specs of my machine (sad I know).

So here's my situation:

I was playing as the Altarians in a small size galaxy. All races were on, and I was playing under normal difficulty. I lucked out by getting put in a corner near races that were like-minded (I was playing Good). Unfortunately, all I had near my area of influence was a research resource and my home planet. No other nearby planets were habitable. Several turns after a meeting of all the races in which it was decided 'yes' to ending all the current wars, space war I broke out. All evil based races attacked me.

So here's my bug:

One of the races (arceans, I think) declared war on me and the screen moved to the opposite end of the galaxy far away from me. They attacked a research starbase, and it was destroyed. The problem is that this attack was done outside of my influence and view. The starbase was not my own, however, on this very turn it changed to my color (happened so fast that I'm not sure who's it really was) and was reported as being mine. I instantly realized this could not be the case and checked on my only starbase (which was also a research one). It was still there and seemed to be operating correctly. So while this didn't really affect my game it was something that should not have happened. And before anyone asks, no, nobody surrendered to me and therefore their starbase became mine. I was the weakling of the entire galaxy .

I'll be around for another half hour before I go workout, in case there is any other information needed on this.
