Why Can't I Lose?

Does the A.I. only get military victories? In my current game (normal, medium galaxy, ), everyone but me surrendered to the Torians, and they now control 82% through influence. Shouldn't the game be over? Edited to add that we are not at war, so that isn't the answer.

The AI can win through influence. Have the Torians had 82% of the galaxy for 10 turns?

Don't they also have to be at peace with everyone also for an influence win?

Yep -- you have to control 75% of the map for ten turns to get the influence victory. So you better start blowing up some influence starbases fast.

The number seems to be a little buggy sometimes though. I've been at 72% before, built something that gave +5% and would not the victory in ten turns notification.

Similarly, on the game where I won through influence, I had around 78%, then blew up my full influence starbase in turn 6 of the ten, but still won the influence victory.

So it seems kinda strange sometimes.

Hmmm in Galciv 1 Ai could win tech victories as well....is this not possible in galciv2...I thought it was?
