How do you break alliances with minor races?

How do you break alliances with minor races? One minor race has 4-5 mining starbases, and they don't show up in his list of starships, so I can't trade for them. I allied with him earlier on a whim, and now can't figure out how to un-ally so that I can attack him. For normal races, if you're allied with them, the option shows up in that diplomacy window, right next to trade embargo. For the minor race, all I see is trade embargo, with no other diplomatic options.

Mhh... I think just attacking them should work ? I get a warning when I attack races I'm not yet at war with, so this might work the same.

at the moment, we cannot break alliances with minor races.

I posted about this on another forum somewhere (I think it was Quarter to Three). Brad said that he would look into it. We cannot spy on them either (minor races, that is).

I am hoping that eventually (sooner than later?) that those two are put in. Minor races can become somewhat powerful. I have noticed that I get messages that I should increase my espionage vs a minor race, but the game does not let me.

Also, when I try to attack a minor race that I am allied with, I get the message that I need to break the alliance first. But...there is no option to break that alliance.
