How do I return Abilities to normal?

Um...

Perhaps a silly question, but I changed the Terran info on the first campaign scenario. I changed: name, leader, starting Abilities, etc. If I remember right, you cannot modify starting techs for anyone except a Custom.

Now when I play a standalone map, the Terrans retain the modded info I entered. But when I hit the "Clear" button on the bottom of the screen, it does not return to the defaults.

So there's my question, if I go around changing all the races defaults, how do I get back to the original settings?

Ooh, that brings up a good second question: if you change a races info when you play them - do they retain that info as an AI race in a later game? Or do they always use the defaults when playing as an AI?

If you go into "My Documents/My games/GalCiv2/CurrentCustomRaceXX.raceconfig" you can delete those files and everything goes back to default. I just change the name, like putting a Z in front of it, and it does the same thing but you can keep the old file.

These files are created anytime you play a race, whether or not you changed it. I don't know what the numbers correspond to, except that Terran = Race 0 and Custom = Race 10.

Seems very odd, a "return to default" button in-game would be much nicer.

(I also cannot take credit for discovering this, someone posted on it last night about where they are)

Thanks for the feedback. A "Defaults" button would be nice.

But I still wonder-does anyone know if the AI uses your settings? Seems like that would be silly, but...
