Great Game ^5

First of I will admit, with other top ranking PC titles I have waited for and recently purchased, I had forgotten all about GC2. The other night I got an idea to check Stardock's site to see what's new in the utilities section such as ObjectDock. Come to my surprise it was the 21st of Febrary and GC2 was shipping! I immediately ordered the CD version whereas the box art looked FAT compared to regular 1 inch PC game boxes. I even wrote Stardock Sales adn they told me there was a printed manual with the CD boxed version. Although they did not tell me how many pages the manual is, i sure do hope it's bigger and thicker than the 65 page PDF that ships with the digital download! I also told them I love spiral bound mega-game manuals such as the 700+ page spiral bound game manual that came with Dangerous Waters; very cool. Back to GC2. Well i enjoyed my first game experience very much. Got my behind kicked pretty good, but I feel good. I mean i had a great economy going, research, my planet people were happy and i was purposely not pushing military might however in the end game, my military strength via all my research and good economy became fantastic, but too late with enemy frigates in my front yard. Still i was pleased that they spent over a dozen planet invasion attempts before they won the day. Nevertheless, I shall read and get better playing GC2. This is wonderful that a great, fun TBS game has surfaced in the PC arena. Up until now, I still play Alpha Centauri a couple times a year and I do still like that game very much. GC2 is really a neat game. The tutorials were good too and i appreciated them. However, i noticed at times the speech would cut out then return; little niggle but nothing major. As for the game's detail and complexity I could not even begin to report anything wrong with the title. The cut scenes that allow you to repeat them is redundant but perhaps sometime " i myself " will want to repeat viewing them. But out of the box and basically not knowing what i was doing in the deeper grand scheme of things; i truly enjoyed this product and i look forward to many more 6 hour game sessions playing GC2. It's been a while since i bought a new game and didn't stop playing after installing and initial boot. My hats off to the Stardock team who created this colorful and imaginative and wonderful TBS game for us TBS people. And yes I was one of those PC gamers who skipped GC1 because it, "i just didn't take to it." I think the interface played a major role. Also, I am still to this day happy playing SMAC so I didn't jump for GC1. But no matter. Galactic Civilizations II is a game I will tell people about and most of them won't buy it because they don't understand the enjoyment that only comes with the depth of a great TBS game. I look forward to the CD Box package just to see what kind of manual i will get. Tonite i got the GOODIES download. CooL will check that out. And this forum here I read for about 3 hours before buying the game and I really like the overall community attitudes about this product and what people had to say. As well I also noticed that Stardock is "active" here in the forum and that is a plus as well. Thanks again for a FUN game. GC2 now is the TBS game of the new decade!
