In GC1 there was this button, but we felt the new on-map borders did a better job conveying the info than boring old numbers We can always add this for real number-crunchers in an update

The borders are cool but I would like to be able to see the numbers so I know if my influence is actually doing anything. That way you can see if your influence is going up or down in a sector and you'd be able to do something about it like build up a starbase or something.

had 4 influence starbases on my borders in my current game on normal; alarian influence (my allies) was massive, they got drengin, arcean and 2 minor race planets, while I had only my own 4 and earth+mars. Even then, had to war with them as I couldnt hold their influence back. Would love to have seen the numbers behind it.

Don't forget you can see the ration of your influence to the ratio of "their" influence in the planets' info screen (the number in ( ) after the influence points). Not exactly the same thing but at least that way you can keep an eye on the planets.

Actually, Todd, those numbers are what is really important. Influence isn't the same as it was in GC1, it's not equal throughout a sector, so a GC1-style display wouldn't be as appropriate.

Yeah, I know, but this number only gives you the ratio of your own and the planet's owner's influence. No way to see how much influence a third race might have on the planet. (Or is there?)
I think the best/easiest way would be a simple tool that you could point at any "parsec" and that gives you the influence numbers of all races for that square.
