A suggestion about AI surrenders

I think there should be an option in the game somewhere that will make it so the computer will not surrender. I hate it when I am doing well and suddenly I get a bunch of star systems across the galaxy from empires I haven't even met yet. I don't think that's fun. It is very annoying. For me it ruins the game.

They shouldn't have the option to surrender to anyone else. Its not very likely that when britain was expanding its empire when they invaded india, the indians wouldn't be allowed to surrender thier territory to someone totally random like japan. It just wouldn't happen and shouldn't in the game, they should only be able to surrender to their aggressors

I agree to a point. I don't think they should surender to someone they do not know. It is not offered as an option for the human player so it should not be an option for the AI. I don't have a problem with them surrendering to someone other than who is attacking though.

i think that the ally should only be allowed to surrender to an extremely close civ or an ally only if they are getting beaten badly and only have 5 or so planets left anyways

I disagree with the idea that you should only be able to surrender to someone who has declared war against you.

Say that you're a militarily small civilization that is between two superpowers. Both of these superpowers are interested in making you part of their civilization. One is good, one is evil. The evil one gets fed up with trying to coerce you to join, so they declare war. You now have three options:

1) Fight with what you've got, probably loose, and have your entire population wiped out.
2) Surrender to the evil civ and become slaves.
3) Agree to become part of the good civ, giving up some autonomy, hoping that either the evil civ will not want to go to war with the good civ and back down, or failing that, that the good civ will follow through on their end of the deal and defend you better than you could defend yourself.

Anyone that thinks that option 3 isn't a valid option is thinking of GalCiv as a combat simulator, not an empire/politics simulator. I don't know what the current factors are in who the AI surrenders to, but it should follow something like this. Preferably someone who they're on good terms with (to have a better chance of retaining more autonomy), someone that is militarily strong (to be able to defend us or cause the attacking civ to back down), and someone that is a neighbor.

I just want the computer not to surrender as easily or to nor surrender at all. Which is where an option button comes in handy that you check if you don't want the computer to surrender.

I was talking with Frogboy in another thread about the AI surrendering and was able to point out a few cases that might lead to better determination of whether the AI should consider surrendering.

I would agree about allowing the AI surrender to be an option. I would also like to see a "Minor" civilization rotate in whenever there is a spot available through surrender.
