1. If you havent researched any military techs whats the point of the military slider, or what does the military slider do?

2. What difference does the research and social slider do?

3. How do you mine a mining resource?

4. My flag ship got blown away, how do I build another?

1) The military slider controls how much of your funding goes towards building ships. All ships, including those colonizers that you need so desperately in the early game.

2) The social slider controls how much of your funding goes towards building improvements on planets. These can be factories to make it so you can build stuff faster, labs to increase your research capacity, market places to increase tax revenue, or many other things. The research slider controls how much of your funding goes towards researching new technologies.

3) You don't, mining sectors got removed from the game, they just didn't remove the mining bonus tiles at the same time.

4) That would be a survey ship, and you have to have Impulse engines, Star Scanning, and the hull tech that gets you medium hulls, if I remember correctly, to build a second one.

5) There's a stab at one in the forums here somewhere, but it wasn't stickied so it's hard to find. I don't know if it was official or a fan-written one.
