Many years ago, I expressed that I would not buy any other Stardock games ever, except the new Elemental game if it ever comes out.
I have no idea how Stardock games are these days; the last time I heard anything about Stardock was regarding the dispute over the Star Control IP. I guess... it is solved now?
That being said, I am very glad a new Elemental game is coming out, and I will definitely buy the game, as I promised.
I know this is a repeat of what I said many years ago; the Elemental Fallen Enchantress, as a game, was almost completed. The biggest problem of the game was (and still is) anachronous(simultaneous) turn system, as far as I believe.
Essentially, the game could not handle interactions when all pieces on the map move at the same time when a turn is being resolved. This causes AI to be unable to attack anything that moves away, and the auto-save never works because the game always tries to auto-save when an anachronous turn is being resolved, resulting in intermittent issues such as the positions of units being changed or just downright crashing.
I am not sure how much the game engine is being changed and improved, but I have a feeling this will still cause problems. Perhaps implementing classic turn instead of simultaneous turn would bring the real improvement for both the auto-save situation and AI issues. I am not sure whether you guys are aware of this issue (or I am wrong from the start regarding this issue), but fixing this turn issue would be a good start.
Of course, I could be dead wrong about the anachronous turn. But this is my experience from playing this game for a long time.
Anyway, thank you for bringing this Frenchaise back to life. I always feel the Elemental deserves better, and I am glad it is given another chance.
