Sorry if this has been discussed here before. I am noticing in my current game that the custom empires I've tried to populate my galaxy with are not displaying their borders properly - specifically, the highlighted outermost part of their border, although the actual colouration of the hexagon grid works fine.
This is especially bad for the visuals in MY games because my preferred grid-style is to be able to see the grid when I zoom in, but then have it fade out when zoomed away, so all you see the is nice big blobs of empire colour on an otherwise pristine slab of spaaaaaaaace.
But it feels bad when you zoom out from this:

To see this:

And suddenly, that custom empire fighting right in the middle of this crucial battleground just... disappears completely. Not only does it make it harder for me to make choices at a glance from a zoomed-out strategic POV, but it misrepresents the story that's been playing out between me and these characters, undercuts the visual drama of my galaxy, which can really feel like the biggest driver of everything I do in a game like this.
Here's another example, just to prove it's happening to multiple custom empires in my game and not just the reddish guys:

This yellow-gridded custom empire at the east side of this sector shows no border highlights at all, even though I've explored as far as the pink-bordered Festron in the west.
In the meantime, I can switch to perpetual-grid mode, which will at least show me the correct information:

But I do much prefer the visual style of the earlier pics, if there's some way to get the custom empires to show properly
