I'm not sure auto-volley works as intended. First off, it seems every fleet (those that can) is using auto-valley on every targetable fleet. This causes pirates, that are supposed to ignore probes, destroying probes because they happened to end up close to a probe at the end of their turn.
Auto-volley is also used by anomaly defence fleets. This is usually a minor inconvenience. However, if a heavily guarded anomaly happens to spawn near one of your starbases, it will bombard it every turn until it is destroyed. If this happens early in the game, with only having small ships and a relatively small fleet, there is nothing you can do about it.
May I suggest removing the valley ability from anomaly defence fleets (those that just sit on their anomalies) and make the pirates more aware of what their are targeting (make them truly ignore probes).
