Hi,
Working with 2.0 (release) I continue to see a mildly annoying phenomenon. When I attack a planet, there is a report of how long the siege will take (all things being equal, no counterattacks, etc.). This doesn't seem to be terribly accurate. Some times when I check during the siege (click on attacking fleet then target) I get a number of months that seems like it's the entire siege length, sometimes what is left, and sometimes I don't know what. For example I get a message that says it will take 8 months, after attacking for a few turns, and then presto the planet changes to my color. Now considerable uncertainty may well be Working As Intended. If so, the player should be advised somehow. Perhaps that is the best way to do it, so that one can't plan on exactly how long the attack will take. Also so one can't know for sure whether your planet will hold out long enough for relief. If this is so please advise.
Nevertheless, the estimates (advertised as such) shouldn't be quite as flaky as I experience them. If you like, I could document this in detail for a given case from my current game. I just submit that a little smoothing out needs to be done with this.
Having a ton of fun so far...
