In most cases, just leave it be, but if you wanted the colony to feed a certain planet, you should be able to do so. You can already do it with asteroid fields.
I agree. I’ve asked for this before using the same reasoning. It would definitely help balance colony support for new core worlds.
There's a reason colonies currently default to the nearest Core world. Decay. While I agree that it would be nice to be able to change the Core world the colony supports, if you send the support too far it will become useless (unless you have decay buffs).
That's why normally you leave it alone. But sometimes you might be willing to have extra decay if you absolutely need to feed a core world.
