I just finished a big battle, but the battle viewer doesn't show any opponent ships or any weapon fire. It just shows my fleet flying around, and then announces that I won. This is the case for all of the different views. The log does show lots of attacks.

This was a big battle, if that is significant: 7 ships on my side and 24 on the opponent's side. And it lasted a long time, as the log shows that my ships concentrated their fire, so they only took out one opponent ship per exchange, with the rest of their missiles doing nothing. Meanwhile, the opponents largely couldn't get through my huge ship's defense.

P.S. I saw another seeming anomaly in the battle viewer. I had one huge ship, with about 100 points of missile attack. But each time it attacked, the log showed it attacking for just 1. My small ships, with comparable missile attacks, were doing double digits of damage.

P.P.S. It feels like the shields on my huge ship were too effective. (Its defenses were around 100 for each kind of attack.) It was typed as an Escort, while my small ships were typed as Capital, so it took all the attacks. The opposing fleet could put out around 600 points of damage. According to the log, my large ship was getting hit by hundreds of points per exchange, but usually its defenses stopped all of it. Over the course of the battle, it was hit with at least 10 exchanges, each with of hundreds of points of combined damage, yet it took less than 100 damage total.
