Ok, i won't lie, i have definately min-maxed this game and think that I have broke it. I did an insane map with 10 major races on godlike difficulty, and I simply expanded as much as possible while using "ancient" and "patriotic" on my custom race. Here is a screenshot from the 66th turn.
In this case, I had about 320 colonies at turn 71 for a total of about 110k passive science from crystals and relics, which is normally enough to let you research an entire branch of the tech tree in one turn (PSA: just click on the last tech in the branch, and it will use every point that turn to fill in all the techs between. However, it will only use the tech on top when you get to one of the multiple choice "bonus" techs that provides a numerical bonus instead of a new "thing" to build or use.
The issue is that after reaching about 90k - 100k science per turn, you simply can not research anything at all, not even a single tech by itself. The game gets some sort of weird overflow bug that makes me want to try and parse it with a memory monitor. After researching a technology, the next turn the game states that I have "0" turns remaining, but does not give my any of the technologies that I have researched. It will do the same thing for any subsequent turns. I suspect a bunch of "FFFFFF" hex values just turned into "000000"
FYI - I have also had this same issue when using "Death furnaces" as a synthetic race and using 5 - 6 manufacturing planets to funnel population to the death furnace planet with transports. A manufacturing planet with 400 billion pop on turn 70 can create a similar amount of science using research projects.
My best production star system was also called "Yoloswagulus". While the name is more than a little ridiculous, you made me succeed at laughing until it hurt.
Well done.
