I would like to begin this post with admitting my deep sadness that we have had no confirmation on Linux (or Wine) compatibility even though Steam has opened up a section for Linux games. Would I be even more stoked if that were a feature? He11 yeah, it would preclude me from having to install a WinDoze partition and make my life significantly easier. That being said I love GalCiv FAR too much to not go through the headache preventing me from playing it (and testing it). GalCiv II was my favorite game for YEARS! The number of hours of sleep lost while playing is incalculable, GalCiv II was there for me while I was deployed (twice) and when I was back in the states. When I got notice that we were getting a sequel I immediately set aside money for the Elite Founder, not because of all the perks (although those are awesome) but because this one company has been behind my two favorite games in the last ten years (GalCiv II and Sins of a Solar Empire) and they have earned my trust that this game is worth what I've paid for it.
In summary, thank you Stardock for all you have done in the past and the project you are undertaking. I (and I'm sure others) have well placed faith that you will deliver yet another awesome game for us to log countless hours playing, modding, and cursing (the new AI). Keep up the good work and please pass along my well wishes to your development staff, I (and I'm sure others) will be eagerly awaiting Alpha, Linux or no Linux compatibility.
