As some of you may know, I've been part of a group of modders who have been trying to fix some of the problems with the TOA AI, most notably the various errors with the tech trees. I've stopped working for a while, but I'm aware there's still problems with the AI, so I decided to run an AI vs. AI game to see how they all stacked up in a vacuum. While it's possible to use cheats to have the AI play itself, this is hard to follow and frequently crashes, so I went with the method detailed by Tolmekian in this post: use cheats to reveal the map, summon a Vegans-style minor race, then take control of that minor race in order to effectively remove yourself from the game. I also gave myself all the techs in order to make sure the AIs would leave me alone.
Settings for the game:
I elected to test 8 AIs here - the Terrans, Drengin, Altarians, Arceans, Torians, Yor, Korx, and Drath. The Korx and Arceans have been having particular problems, so watching what happened to them would be interesting.
All the minor races were modded to colonize and behave more like major races. Unknown to me when I set things up, the race config file I was using was one where I had replaced the Paulos and Snathi with minor race versions of the Drath and Korx (as per the events of the Dark Avatar campaign), so I wound up with two separate Drath and Korx civilizations - one major, one minor.
Starting out
I summoned the Vegans and took control of them with no problems. These were the starting positions of each major race:

The Terrans, with lots of minor races nearby. The blue shield in the left corner is "me" as the Vegans. The minor Korx and Drath are up there as well.

The Drengin - their cluster is fairly small, but they've got a lot of room to expand.

The Altarians near the bottom of the map. Fittingly enough, they're close by the Drath.

The Arceans at quadrant center. Their position wound up being just as heavily fought over as you'd expect.

The Torians way off to the side.

The Yor.

The Korx - their starting location, as you can see, was pretty awesome.

And this was the Drath, between the Arceans and Altarians.

Overall galaxy.
I'll continue this tomorrow as soon as I figure out how to post thumbnails - these images right now are too big.
