Ok 5 things you can try here.

1- Star the game with the windows resolution window open (right click my desktop and go to screen resolution, keep this open when launching the game).

2-  Try alt tabbing out of the game and back into the game. 

3-  Go to documents in start menu, find "My games" then find the elemental folder.  Delete the file "Prefs.ini" (the game will make a new one apon restart).

4- Run the game in a window (uncheck fullscreen) and have the resolution the same as the desktop's.  Alternatively if you were running the game in a window, try running it fullscreen.

5- open the impusle menu ingame (it should tell you how when you start up the game, shift+tab I belive) then close the menu.

If none of the above helps then I'm out of options.
