I've got a question: Amazon is selling Sins of Solar Empire and 1st expansion pack for $20. If I buy that, can I still use Impulse to update my software and will the expansions that I buy on Impulse work with the off the shelf version of Sins?
Once you have the serials for the games, you can register them with your Impulse account and you will then have access to the games/updates via Impulse. The expansion purchased through Impulse will work with your retail copies.
This is also true of Galactic Civilizations II, just in case you find that on the cheap.
If you do buy from Amazon (or any other retailer), just be sure you're not buying it used -- it can make the situation complicated.
