Guess you werent paying attention to the first Gulf War...We kicked Iraqs military out of Kuwait which was the mission. Guess you havent payed attention to anything but the news reports about Iraq in the recent war. The insurgency has trickled into drops instead of the flood it was back in 2004. The Iraqi Government is now in control. And American Troops are now in support of the Iraqi Military. I was there for the official handover between US Troops in the lead to Iraqi Troops. Its not perfection but anyone expecting it are just fools. And anyone who doesnt have the full picture are lying to themselves about whats going on.

Yes the old age America had this coming arguement. Should of expected this one.

1st. American/Chinese/British/French/German etc etc Citizens were in the WTC's when those planes came barrelling down. So in reality Al Qaeda declared war on the World not just America. They targeted (purposely aiming to inflict harm on people not involved or related to any physical conflict...A big difference from Civilians being killed during fighting between American Troops and Insurgents { who just happen to use the civilians as shields and to blend in with}) Civilians. How that can be twisted to be okay when people criticize American Troops when Civilians die accidently is beyond me. But I guess the reality is America is bigger and more powerful so they should ALWAYS be the bad guy no matter who they face.

2nd. The Taliban werent even considered a Soviergn Government before 9/11. Funny how people seem to forget that, only 8 short years after all of this went down. But I guess the reality is people will believe what they want and remember what they want when they want their view to be heard. The Taliban were commiting atrocities against mankind. Hacking fingers/hands/ and heads off for the most minor of crimes. Including women showing their faces in public. But go ahead and defend these monsters. It shows how you really dont give a shit about the greater good, but only flinging as much mud as you can.

3rd. Al Qaeda are no freedom fighters nor is the Taliban. The idea behind Freedom Fighting is that those doing the fighting are looking to bring Freedom to an oppressed group. Considering how both groups treat people when they are incontrol. They are in no fashion fighting to free their people of any oppression. Only looking to further oppress them through extreme views on a religion that preaches peace.

Guess your question about what America deserves falls apart when you finally take a good look at why Al Qaeda are out to topple America. They feel responsible for the down fall of Russia (even if its not the complete story) and its given them an ego. And on the flipside, they are as oppressive as the Taliban in their views of their religion. And only wish to spread their views to the rest of the world through terror.

If you didnt hate the US you wouldnt manipulate whats happened and try to create this image that America (the people of America not its Government) deserve the terrorism that threaten it everyday.

Im as big a critic of my country as anyone else. I dont think your truely a Patriot until you can see both the good and the bad your country has done and continues to do.  And I will fully admit Americas shortcomings when someone legitimately brings it up. But only when its not twisted and manipulated beyond what it is. Before WW1 yes America wasnt a boyscout but in the last 100 years America has come a long way. And while its still making mistakes. While I was in this one AO in Iraq, A local village had outted Al Qaeda after accepting them into their village and turned to the US to keep Al Qaeda out. What happened to cause these people to turn away from Al Qaeda?

When the US originally invaded, they ignored this area. It was nothing but farms and canals. In no way a strategic location. In the immediate aftermath of the war. The villagers were fearful of the US and worried about money as the war and the continuing fighting made it hard to make money. So they turned to Al Qaeda as they seemed to be a light in the midst of darkness. But almost immediately, Al Qaeda began implementing harsh rules and extreme religious rights over the village. They would take villagers daughters who were only 15-16 years old and marrying them off to complete strangers (believe it or not, Iraqis dont like to marry their daughters off to much older men or to men they do not know of, they want their daughters to be in a safe home and for the man to be relatively close to her age as she most likely wont be abused) as well ordering young boys sometimes 13-14 to commit acts against the US in either suicide bombings or just taking the risk of placing the IEDs. If anyone resisted them and their ideas. They were beheaded infront of everyone. Eventually the villagers had had enough and ousted Al Qaeda when the US was able to spread out more and into this area they turned to us finally realizing the US wasnt what Al Qaeda made us out to be.

In the years following this, the US empowered the locals by hiring them to guard their own communities, build schools and fix the roads so that they could travel easier. Modernized power and water treatment plants. Aided local clinics with supplies that before were more then likely to turn people away then help them. Organized their military to be better trained then they had been under Saddam. More organized and better equiped and prepared. Organized the Police to think for themselves and act on their own accord. And eventually stabalized areas that were deeply under the influence of Terrorist groups once people began to turn away from them. Assisted in linking the local populations to their politicians by giving them the ability to actually interact instead of voting out of fear.

Yes there were incidents where US Troops didnt perform admirably. But they dont represent the majority to me. Just like those that chose to aid Al Qaeda because they didnt like the US didnt represent Iraq as a whole to me when I was there.

You and everyone else can continue complaining and making broad statements that have no merit. But it means nothing when you have no facts, or even proof to back up your claims.
