How is it that a free game gets more updates and less bugs then a paid game?
I have a few friends that i play Dota/Demigod ofently with. And i have to say since DoTa 6.60 and 6.61 are out, we dont play Demigod at all. Sorry to say but 6 caracters and always the same and no change in the game play killed it for us. Cant wait to see the next patch for Dota, changes in spells and how caracters are played. You guys? Gonna fix some obscur bug and talk some more of what you did that week and post videos about it, great.
And its getting too lil too late. Even if you come out with new caracters now, sure ill try them hopefully they fun and entertain me until the next patch but frankly, i lost hope in StarDock. They flat out just didnt deliver with this game and keep not delivering. I was starting to belive in them when they fixed some of the problems at the begining but too long the same game, people are moving on and IceFrog isnt laging and doesnt have marketing departement to feed i guess, he is coming out with new stuff all the time and keeps it interesting. You guys are not, and people are returning to Dota.
With your marketing deparment, im sure they came up with something like 2-4 new caracters in an EXPENSION PACK that people will have to buy with 1/2 price and marketing deals bullshit (sorry for the word). Just go see you marketing department and fire them all, use 1/2 the money used to feed those useless people to hire developers. Peolpe know about your game, the best publicity you can have right now is a patch with new content with few bugs that are not affecting gameplay. Good products will beat marketing any days.
Come out with new content and people will flock back to the servers, for a few weeks. Keep addig new content and we'll stop playing Dota and tell our friends to go buy Demigod. But at the moment, it isnt working on 2 of my friends' laptop cause the videocard as a bug with your product even though its a good videocard taht sohuld play the game. After the 1st horrible weeks of this game, i had, as a friend, to let my friends know and alot didnt buy it. At the breaking points where we played Demigod enough that we didnt want to play Dota anymore and some of our friends were thinking to go buy the game, patch 6.60 came out. No bugs, like a new game, new caracters, change in spells, new items, free. A few days later got 1 of your patch, fixed some bug, changed a few things in protocols i dont understand or care.
But as i said, too lil too late, im about to un-instal Demigod, i need room for WoW PTR (that thing is HUGE) and i dont feel like un-instaling other games cause i havnt played your game in a while and the ONLY reason at this point in time where id want to log on Demigod is the see new caracters. One thing is for sure, im not re-downlaoding this game over the internet again, once its uninstaled, its gone. And if i DO re-instal it, it will have NOTHING to do with your marketing department but a friend that will tell me that its worth playing again and they want to play Demigod over Dota.
If you have a move to play, its pretty much now the time. And as i said, your marketing team cant do a damn thing about it, only developers can. Get people working on the GAME. As long as your game ends up with:
a) a demo
on bestbuy shelfs.
c) is well developed
your game will sell. You do not need marketing for that. I Never heard of WarCraft I when it 1st came out, saw the game on the shelf and it looked good. Not from marketing drawings and scenematics but from actual game play screenshots. Couldnt wait for WCII, then WCIII and later on the expension. Were was marketing back then!?!? Never got an email, never got a deal, just got a good product and i paid full price and i was very satisfied with it, in fact more then paying 1/2 for your game. Then marketing can be done by monkeys: "its like WarCraft, but with space ships, we called it SpaceCraft". And people will wait in front of the stores the day it comes out.
Honnestly, what can marketing do if you come out with Demigod 2? Not many will buy unless there is a huge change in the current game. If the game had been well developed from the start, you know you would have gotten huge scores from gaming websites and the 1st 2-4 weeks of sells would have been much better. But no, why hire developers when marketing can make up for short coming? Because they cant. Now you learn that the hard way. I felt bad for you guys at 1st for all that happended and so on. But so many months later and the game is now fixed, work that should have been done before instead of after, so that after you can come up with content, but you guys are all tied up in making the game work so no new content. Eng. and Dev. dont work like that, thats marketing style. Maybe you've learn from this experience, i sure did: ill be lokking for your logos next time i DONT buy a game. Im sure the deals will be great, and my friends can get it for cheaper, and their moms too. But im not looking for a deal, im looking for a game.
