Pros: Specializes in long range barrages, Drone minions are free, can cause serious instant damage.
Cons: very little damage without drones, prone to area of effect attacks, takes time to regain full potential.
Wrekzal is a tank-machine riding goblin, who periodically summons drones for free rather than summoning them manually. The drones spawn one at a time at a constant rate, and the types of drones are summoned depending on how you have built up your skill tree. The tank machine itself, is nothing more than a rolling multi-catapult contraption with a tube on one side where the drones spawn, riding on a pair of tank-treads. There are 8 catapults in total, 2 rows of 4, and 1 is used for his auto-attack.
The drones are weak in terms of armor and HP, also uncontrollable, but comes with a very powerful factor: they cost no mana, and spawn priodically rather than requiring a spell to be summoned. They spawn to the side of the tank-machine in the form of a sphere and changes into a random type of drone. Depending on which skill tree build you choose, you can get melee drones, ranged drones, or a mixture of both if you are willing to spend a lot of points into them. They follow you very closely so they can almost be considered a bunch of independant weapons (like The Rook's). The drones benefit from items, assist many of your spells, and is often your primary source of damage. You can have a grand total of 8 drones at one time.
Rock Drone: First spawn drone, charges at an enemy for a one-time suicide attack. Does not deal area of effect damage. Can have a maximum of 2 at one time. Spawns at the very start and does not require melee or ranged drone tech trees. indestructable but very weak.
Sword Drone: Primary, single target melee drone of the melee drone tech tree.
Mace Drone: Additional melee drone spawned from higher levels in melee drone tech tree, they do area of effect damage. Can have a maximum of 4 at one time.
Bow Drone: Primary, single target ranged drone of the ranged drone tech tree.
Cannon Drone: Additional ranged drone that fires cannon balls to deal area of effect damage. Can have a maximum of 4 at one time.
TNT Drone: Drone spawned from the lvl 15 skill that requires both ranged and melee drone tech trees, they are a one time use drone, as they self destruct. Can have a maximum of 2 TNT Drones at one time. TNT drones do not attack randomly and only responds to active spells.
Active Abilities:
Barrage: Use your catapults to throw rocks at an area at long range in rapid succesion. Any melee, Rock, and TNT drones present will ball up into their sphere forms and load themselves into the catapults in place of the rocks, launching themselves to the target destination where they will attack anything within the targetted area for a breif moment before attempting to return to their owner. TNT and Rock drones explode on impact. Ranged drones will aid in the barrage by shooting a small volley at the target location. The number of drones that aid in the barrage grows each level, capping at 8. This is pretty much your signature spell (like The Rook's hammer slam and Unclean Beast's venom spit).
Charge!: Command your drones to break formation and charge forward towards the enemy citadel, fighting to the death. The commanded drones will act like grunts in this manner and gain a slight attack speed and damage boost. There is a 10 second delay in drone production after this ability is used, but will continue to spawn drones even if charging drones are still alive. Number of drones commanded increases in level, capping at 8. Very long cooldown.
Ramming Speed: Select a building for your tank to charge into like a battering ram siege weapon, dealing massive damage and knocking smaller enemy units out of the way.
Emergency Repairs: Repair you and your drones over a small amount of time, being damaged does not break the effect.
Passive Abilities:
Melee Drone Spawn: Periodically spawn Sword Drones, higher levels allow the random chance of spawning Mace Drones and increases the number of drones you can have at one time, capping at 8, and increases hp and armor of your drones.
Ranged Drone Spawn: Periodically spawn Bow Drones, higher levels allow the random chance of spawning Cannon Drones and increases the number of drones you can have at one time, capping at 8, and increases the damage of your drones.
Advanced Drone Spawning: All drones gain a 10% chance to deal 2 times their base damage and you gain a rare chance to spawn a TNT Drone. TNT drones cause a massive, one-time explosion in an area of effect when used in a Barrage or told to Charge. Otherwise does not auto attack anything nearby. Requires both Ranged and Melee Drone Spawns maximized. Also slightly increases drone spawn rate.
Revenge!!! (high level passive): Upon death, 4/8 drones will remain alive for 10 seconds and attack whatever landed the killing blow upon you.
Opinion: This guy would be great for people who like fighting with an army but dislike having to micro so much. Drones can be practically considered destructible independant weapons and you have no real worry about losing one or two, like how annoying it can be with oaks spirits. Also, i believe the game is in need of a second ranged general (Queen of Thorns being the only ranged general, while there are 2 ranged assassins). The free drones do sound a little unfair until the periodic spawning time is realized. Though free, drones have to come out one by one, where as the other generals can either summon their minions instantly(Sedna, QoT) or gain a lot of minions quickly by killing many units (Oak, Vampire). A well placed area of effect spell can destroy most (if not all) of the drones, and it will take time to regain those drones and your spells will lose a lot of strength. In a pinch though, when there is no more mana and no units to kill (or no time to kill) to gain more minions, Wrekzal will be able to regain his strength in numbers.
With that said, you can think of his Barrage and Charge abilities as spells that take time to charge, and your drones are how you can calculate the spells strength by how many and what kind of drones you have. If you have gone both ranged and melee, the active spells will differ in damage since what you spawn will be completely random, but can be very devastating if youre lucky enough to get 2 TNT drones. Luck may be against you and you may get 2 Rock drones, which do very little damage in any situation, but are better than nothing at all. A skilled user could have drones runnign and flying all over the place, wreaking havok.
And, if someone so wishes, there is a "demolition" tech, with ramming speed and barrage, since ramming speed doesnt need drones to be useful, and Barrage still launches rocks (and your rock drones) at a target location at long range.
