I was downloading forged alliance overnight and during the install phase Impulse popped up a dialog that said I didn't have enough free space. So far, so good. I go off on my harddrive and start cleaning up some old junk to free up space and end up with about double the amount of space needed (16 or so gigs free).
I go back to Impulse (which has been open in the background the entire time) and it seems to be stuck doing nothing. I'm not getting any hard drive activity, my CPU usage seems to be quite low and it seems like nothing is going on, which is confusing. Anyway, I decide to restart Impulse. I hit the close button in the top right corner and the app says it can't shut down right at the moment so I wait a little while, then hit the close button again and hit happily closes. I restart Impulse only to discover that I must now download 4.7 gigs again to install forged alliance.
Shouldn't those 4.7 gigs be cached somewhere? What happened? It seems like the setup process is slightly less than optimal. If anything were to go wrong during the install the entire download must be restarted seems like a fairly big flaw.
Anyone know a better approach to this? I'm quite annoyed right now since 4.7 gigs is not exactly a 15 minute download.
