for more then a week i tried to update the 3 GC games through Impulse. After downloading a set % i get a message 'network problems''. After reading some of the posts i disabled my virus scanner and the download resumed. I feel very uncomfortable with applications forcing me to put my VS off. In the case of Impulse even more because the first time i loaded the newest marketing trick i got a severe virus, to be more precise a trojan warning. So i imediatly uninstalled impulse and continued to play via the stardock / total gaming system that served me fine untill now. Then came the updates wich forced me to install impulse again, which i see as a formentioned marketing trick to force customers to pass through impulse, look at the catalog of new games and buy, buy, buy. I feel very uncomfortable with companies that force me for whatever reason. In reality people that buy games such as GC series are not like the average consumers, they wonna spent money on good games, not colourfull boxes. The list of other games was already a disaster in the Total gaming / Stardock era and this tradition continues with Impulse. Those games are very overpriced since most are budget titles that i can find 5X cheaper in the shops. So i stop with Stardock, Impulse whatever the clever boys come up with. So youre burning the simpathy from before faster then you can rebuild it. Maybe somebody a litlle bit more clever will take things in hand again and keep the marketeers in line. Untill that day its adios Impulse & back to good old reliable Steam (also selling games overpriced but at least playable without any hassle). I guess more Stardock oriented people are doing what im doing already some time. Searching for the better Indie companies such as Cryptic Comet, Greenhouse etc. They are the future because they are to poor to invest in marketing suits. The quality, originality & customer service are the only selling point they can relly on and look how strong they become without big budgets. I hope somebody takes a lesson from losing an old customer.
Sorry for the spelling, im from Belgium
