Twilight : game freeze

terror star rotates and the games up!

HELP!!

I did have a problem before the update but change suggested to ini file helped but then old game stuck too.

I have upgraded video card 3870 and all game updates via impulse . I press run,opening titles and video runs,it gets to the opening screen  and in no time at all ..... FREEZE,and crackle,and I have to reboot the PC

smart exception no use as I have checked and there is no log.I can post dxdiag or do i contact support.

Its a great game but I cannae play it Captain!!

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on your game version:

Dread Lords, all versions:
C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2

Dark Avatar 1.5-1.6 (non-Vista):
C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Hmm, nothing out of the ordinary there. You might try updating your video drivers and see if that makes a difference, as if the whole system is hanging, that would indicate a more system-level issue.

Also if updating drivers is not enough to make it run, you might want to consider that any driver installation tend to leave some "left-overs" in the registry or files or whatever ....

Most of the time, the procedures below are not necessary but since you told us that you just upgraded your graphic card...   you might want to :

-either use driver cleaner to clean your system  (the free version, the paid one may be nice but it's not necessary as far as I know)    (but please document yourself if you intend to use this kind of tool...)

-either format & reinstall the Operating System

of course that's only if all else fails.

What a crock!!!

This stupid game game plays for about week and then decides to freeze, stop running, and all kinds of other problems when you are almost halfway into the game.  It's not our systems it's this POS software.

I've played smaller and smaller maps and it always has the same problem.

I have 4GB of ram, 8800GT nvidia 512 updated drivers the OS is been installed twice.  They have problems with this program and I'm beginning to think they don't know what the hell they are doing.

I don't have any problems like this with any other game I play.

Sorry but Galciv is a fun game and it's a piece of crap.

lantzer if you have a problem it might be better to just start a new thread and explain your problem calmly, you are not helping jon1doc at all with his problem by ranting like this...

 

ho and by the way the game works like a charm here :

C2D8200@3.2Ghz 4GB XP64 8800GTS512 with game settings of : 1280x1024 4xMSAA  and immense map size TA 1.96

(sorry jon1doc, I don't mean to brag about anything, just trying to replace the discussion on its tracks ....)

all drivers are up to date,video and sound cards,and Ive got 4 gig of ram too,and my new  vid card but still no joy.

Ive used RegCure and reg rescue to clean up anty registry probs,I regularly defragment too..

If I need to reinstall windows does that mean overwrite of everything or is that only to format.Has all else failed??
