I confirm crash, but not at launch.. of 3 games, dark and arnor was updated... but, only dark avatar was the right version, arnor result, in game, not upgraded and gal civ 2 stay hour on 'preparing for download' (inside impulse) ...nice goals..
Check if the updates did go to right places.. First time i tried, Impulse put TA patch to GC2 directory, not to /Twilight subdirectory... (check if you find TA/DA launcher/icons on wrong place..)
uninstalling all from Impulse and re-installing them should fix this.. i dunno if there's shorter fix.
I had the same as Ozo -- it installed TA into the GC2 directory and not the subdirectory.

It looks like the solution for this is to remove and reinstall the game (doing so will not affect your ship designs, etc). Sorry for the trouble, it seems this is a result of stuff that had to be done for SDC in the past.
For the love of pete... I HAVE to use Impulse, but Impulse can't even update a program right. All three of my GalCivs are screwed. If I have to UN install anything, it's staying that way.
Impulse has been nothing short of the biggest pain in the ass I have ever dealt with. I've had enough screwing around it for one lifetime... Can't you guys just make it WORK?

I noticed the icons launching incorrectly as well although a complete wipe and reinstall seems to have fixed that. Unfortunately both DA and TA crash to windows with "Program stopped working" when the cut scene ends starting with the 1.99 patch I think. Quite disappointing.
As a developer who has seen my share of difficult debugs: They're asking themselves the same question.
Unfortunately, debugging is one of the most difficult parts of programming.
Yep, I see it too. What's happened is that for Dark Avatar, an extra "DarkAvatar\" has been added to the target and Start in paths. Relatively easy to fix by hand.
Hi,
I had the same problem. Installing updated via Impulse broke the game and both addons. However, I uninstalled and then reinstalled with Impulse. It downloaded the most recent versions and no updates were needed. All three games seem to work perfectly now. AND it fixed the String Not Found error I was having with TOA.
Hope this helps somebody.
Well not sure, what happen, but apparently it was more then just my games. It took the games to bring forth a bug within my system but in the end, it was a corruption in my window's programming. Reinstalling windows vista, fixed the problem with all three games. Reguardless, my system is fixed and the games are working again. I'll have to do more troubleshooting on my end to find out what corrupted my system. Thanks all for your help and information.
I've been following this post, hoping someone would add to it, but no one has in the last week. The updating of the the Dark Whatever Game seems to have corrupted all of my Gal Civ games as well. I can't even reinstall the first two games off my "store purchased" CD. Have also tried reinstalling through Impulse w/ no luck... Any suggestions?
You can't reinstall the games from CDs ? Did you uninstall them before trying to reinstall ?
Doesn't seem pretty in my book .... What kind of problem do you encounter when trying to reinstall ?
Yeah, Hi Whis... Thanks for your help! All I have gotten (both from the reinstall from CD disk and re-download from Impulse) is a dark screen that pops up in the upper left corner of my monitor (about 1/3 the screen) when I try to start the game. Just to be clear, I CAN reinstall the game, both ways ... It just doesn't run when I execute it. Just the kooky, black screen in the upper left corner. The rest of my Impulse games work... Hinterland, Sin of the Solar, etc... And I have uninstalled, tried to delete the folders and reinstall. And still get JUST the black screen thing now. I appreciate any help!!
ho ok could you post a "debug.err" then? it should be located around "My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor"
it might help us help you
Sounds like he needs to change his resolution in his prefs.ini, but I'm not 100% positive.
Bingo, Sole! I found the file you mentioned, changed the setting to 1024x768 just to get into the game, then set it up for 1920 for my new monitor. You guessed it, I got a new monitor at the same time the patches came out and the games were still set to 1368 res (for my old monitor) and that wouldn't run on my new monitor! Thanks for your help, guys! I truly appreciate it!
