I could unserstand the issue of loading an old game, but crashing upon making a new game shouldn't be happening.

Start the game up fresh, attempt to start a new game and let it crash (not much of a choice right...sorry for that step lol).  After it crashes, open up the debugg.err file.  Do a search for the location of this file.  I'm not at my game computer to know where it's located.  Once you find the file, open it and copy/paste all the text into a reply here so that someone can analyze the crash to help you.
