GalCivII OR SoaSE?

Both games are great, and substantially different. It's hard to get excited about another expansion to GCII, but it has been very refreshing to try the very different approach that Sins uses.

Yea, Sins can be pretty twitchy, but I just run the game at the lowest speed so I can take my time as much as possible. Ocassionally, I do encounter a situation where I'm waiting for the game to advance, but I just crank up the execution speed then drop it back down. Generally, I don't have more than about 30 seconds to mull over any one course of action.

I've only gotten heavily involved in one other RTS and that was Company of Heros. Sins seems to have a more relaxed pace and I like the game better overall. I never really could click things fast enough in CoH.

Galciv or SoaSE??? I say BOTH!!!

I have made my decision. I just picked up Sins today. In fact, just after I finish writing this post, I will unwrap the box and pop in my brand new DVD. I look forward to a grand 4X adventure that will keep me up into the wee hours of the night. Congratulations Stardock, you just got another $40 out of my wallet!

Well, you guys (Stardock) may not put any copy protection on your games, but this security tape is certainly a pain in the ass.

I play both and I spend time in both forums. I think Shamgar really nailed the answer to your question. You will spend years playing GalCivII. Sins will be played for a change of pace.

There are five games that are on my various computer that will never be uninstalled: Masters of Orion 2, Escape Velocity: Nova, Warlords IV, GalCiv II, and Sins of a Solar Empire. I put more time into GC2 than any others. It's just a fantastic game!

However, while I'm waiting for Twilight I am putting some serious time into Sins. And I figure I will do so for quite some time.

But eventually you'll need both...

Well, you guys (Stardock) may not put any copy protection on your games, but this security tape is certainly a pain in the ass.

Use Stardock Central (SDC) or the newer Impulse. It will keep your game updated for you and keep your serial numbers on the server. It's pretty convenient really. Just last evening I updated my Sins installation to version 1.03. I actually bought the game and downloaded it through SDC, hehe, no security tape required.

I like Sins better but I am more of a MoO player.

It boils down to three quetions;

1) Do you prefer Real time or Turn based games?
2) Do you want to control your ships in comabt or just see the results?
3) Do you want to play multi-player?

Sins is Real Time where you can control you ships in combat and play against other people.

Other then these advantages (To me at least) GalCiv II is a better game.

Buy both (The cheapest way is through TEN.net) you will not regret it.
