There's so much common SciFi "terminology" out there that a game such as GC is bound to have plenty of corresponding words & sentences almost everywhere.
It's strange though that warfare and weaponry remains a sort of constant group in a number of games; Laser, Plasma, Disruptor, Phasor, etc.

Even having to go through Republic to enjoy a Federation sounds quite familiar.
I'd say 90% of what we read can be tied straight with vague or direct stuff.
