The following is a story I have been composing in my head for awhile now. I hope I articulate it well. Although it is set in the DL universe certain events unolded very differently than the campaign. Enjoy.
THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN CLASSFIED LEVEL 7 BY THE ALTARIAN REPUBLIC SECURITY SERVICE. ANY VIOLATION OF SECURTITY PROTOCOLS WILL BE PUNISHED UNDER THE FULL WEIGHT OF THE WSIP CONVENTION.
FEMALE VOICE 1: Haber control are you recieving this?
MALE VOICE 1: Confirmed Over-Captain Tyuem the datalink is secure. You may proceed as you see fit.
TYUEM: Deck Officer Kram run a full scan and upload to the datalink.
KRAM: As you say Over-Captain.... Dimensions and mass are roughly equivalent to a Gaurdian class patrol frigate. I am detecting four beam emitters of some sort and what appears to be an advanced anti missile system. Energy sheilding and armour are unlike anything in the database. Propulsion systems again are unlike anything we have seen, similar to warp drive but frighteningly more efficient and powerful. Scanners are unable penetrate the hull.
MALE VOICE 2: The unkown will enter the outer envelope of our weapons systems in 2 minutes.
TYUEM: Thank you Weapons Master Jarell... Engine Master Meyuell prepare to cold start the auxillary fusion reactor I want to be at 115% of operational power in five minutes... Deck Officer Kram prepare to transmit all frequencies all known languages.
KRAM/MYUELL: As you say Over-Captain.
TYUEM: Unidentified ship this is Over-Captain Tyuem of the Altarian Republic battleship Sword of Rightiousness. You have entered the Haber system exclusion zone. Please leave the system or power down your engines and submit to an inspection.
KRAM: They do not respond Over-Captain.
JARELL: The unkown has entered outer attack range.
TYUEM: Very well, power up weapons and barrier fields order all singularity batteries and photonic torpedo launchers to prepare firing solutions. Engine Master Myuell come to a full stop, Kram repeat my transmission.
KRAM: Still no response, no change in course.
TYUEM: Control, request permission to fire.
MALE VOICE 1: Permission granted Sword of Rightiousness. Good luck.
TYUEM: Weapons Master fire a warning shot.
JARELL: As you say Over-Captain.... Singularity battery 1b prepare a three shot burst coordinates 045 mark by 036. Fire!
KRAM: They are comming about... unknown is assuming an attack posture they are powering up their weapons.
TYUEM: Myuell bring us to combat speed... navigator begin defensive maneuvers.
KRAM: One of their beam emitters is activating... it has passed through the barries!.... No damage?.... Over-Captain the power level is negligable it almost seems to be a scanning beam.
TYUEM: A scanning...
KRAM: POWER SPIKE! Emitter power levels are off the charts! They're firing!
A series of loud explosions can be heard.
KRAM: Ventral barriers have over loaded! Major hull breaches on decks 4,5,6,and 7 sections 34 to 48! Emergency fields have activated but they are inssuficient we are venting atmosphere! My god Over-Captain it like the Duranthium sheath was not even there.
TYUEM: Activate emegency bulkheads! Weapons Master Jarell you are weapons free.
JARELL: All batteries and launchers fire at will, I repeat fire at will!
KRAM: Enemy anti missile system intercepted 16 of the 20 torpedos we shot and those that hit did only superficial damage! Singularity batteries are ineffective against their armour... they are firing again!
More explosions several alarm klaxons can be heard.
KRAM: Over-Captain! The pressure hull on the port side is just... it's gone. Somehow the emergency bulkheads are holding. Hull integrity is down to 34%. Engines are functioning a 20% effiency and all port side weapons have been destroyed.
TYUEM: Bring us about all starboard weapons open fire.
MALE VOICE 1: Negative Sword of Rightiousness get out of there!
TYUEM: Negative control we have to hold them until Under-Captain Gwafen and my escort fleet engage those troop transports or you'll have a massacare on your hands. My engines are shot anyways we would never make it.
KRAM: Over-Captain we aren't even scratching them... oh no not all at once... THEY'RE FIRING AGAIN!!
TYUEM: All deck brace for impact, I repea....
