Game won't start

Hey all, Don't have the debug info, but I installed the program, and when I click on the shortcut/program the screen goes black and the mouse icon turns into what I assume is the game version, but then it just goes back to the desktop. Do you guys think it's the screen resoluation?

The debug.err file is located in the main program folder, usually C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2 (\DarkAvatar).

You can open it with Notepad, then select all, copy and paste into the reply.

well it's a used copy (with the serial) and I don't have internet, I've heard that the only way to use the game is to register online, But I will check the debug.

Typically what you are describing will result from a mismatch between the desktop resolution and the resolution the game is trying to run at.

If that is the case, you can edit the Prefs.ini file to set the game resolution to match your desktop. The file is located in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2(\DarkAvatar if that is what you are playing).

Open it with Notepad and set these lines:

DisplayWidth=1280 (set to your desktop res)
DisplayHeight=1024(set to your desktop res)
ColorDepth=32
Fullscreen=1
HardwareMouseCursor=1
