I haven't seen any posts on this: Whenever you start a new game, practically all of the settings from previous games are used. There's no "default".
For example, just for kicks, I set up a tiny galaxy with all 10 races, masochistic level, all of them at war with me, the Terrans. But when I later go to start a "legitimate" game, I set things to a nice easy cakewalk with just 5 randomly picked races and all of them start off on a war footing with me!
Wouldn't it make sense to reset a few key race attributes like that every time a new game is started? It certainly does that for the political party. If I forget to change it, practically all my races start out as Federalists.
I suppose it makes things easier to maintain things like galaxy size, planet abundance, star abundance, and so forth from game to game, but when you get to things like the races, then it impacts the game quite a bit more.
For 1.2, I hope Stardock seriously considers a "reset switch" to some reasonable defaults whenever a new game is started instead of just inheriting all of the previous settings. I actually wouldn't mind this for the galaxy attributes either.
