UPDATING GERMAN and other Non-English versions

Regarding the changes of 1.0X (like beeing able to enter the number for money in the trademenue) the German version isn't 1.0X.
A patch will break the game, so this musn't be done, but there might appear bugs listet as "fixed" in the board.

the "no sound in the intro" problem and a lot of other issues, including translation are immanent.

I think, you should have a serious talk with the guys from paradox, cause they really messed it up!

is there a chance for the buyers of the german version to download the english version, including updates?
would solve all problems for a lot of people here!

Download the english version would solve all problems, yes, BUT i don't want an english version. I've payed for a german version and i want a german version... with updates and without translation errors.

no need to say the same think over and over again

Frogboy isn't the person beein responsible, he only made this post in order to inform others like us, so not everyone of us has to open a new post.
There will be a fix for all the problems, I'm really shure, and since then, let's play the 1.0 or other thinks, maybe I'm taking a look on Ur-Quan Masters ( http://sc2.sourceforge.net/ ) extremly old, but hey, there are some days and a weekend to be killed

So please calm down, everyone makes mistakes, and now we have to wait, let's do this and there will be a much better moral on the developers side

Ack. Terrific. Well that would explain a lot of things. That's..frustrating.

I hate to say it but for the time being, if you want 1.0X you'll have to do it in English. There's not a lot we can do. Paradox apparently used 1.0 for their translation efforts and we've gotten nothing new from them. We don't do the translations themselves.

I realize as a gamer, who is responsible for what doesn't matter. You just want your game working. We (Stardock) just make the game. We're not involved in translation other than taking files that are sent to us and double-checking that they work.

It would be helpful if people contacted Paradox on this issue. If we get translated files, we can integrate them in very quickly.

Frogboy? You are saying Paradox is the adress to note this, but they say:

And in the German manual is to read stardock makes the support !!!!!

If we get translated files, we can integrate them in very quickly.

Here's all that has to be done:

There is a directory called \Data\English

You also have a directory called \Data\German (for those of you with German)

Bring the changes from the \Data\English into the Data\German and translate the difference. It should be a very VERY small difference.

I have contacted the appropriate people from Paradox and informed them of the problem. Please keep in mind that Paradox is a Swedish company and due to the date (Friday) and the time difference (6 hours), it is unlikely that there will be a solution before Monday at the earliest.

I can't speak for Paradox, but they have a good reputation for doing well by the customers.

I don't know what kind of contact Stardock has with the people from Paradox who deal with translation issues, but once the text file is finalized for 1.1, it may be a good idea to give them an advance copy to it can be properly translated for the 1.1 full release. The people there who you should be in contact with are Florian and Susanna.

Ok, after a lost evening please somebody be so kind and help me.

After installing the German version 1.0 (which played) I decided to download the update.
I registered the game no. (4E...) in the retail update (not the GC2 No.!)
and was immediately directed to the collector edition download. (Did I make a mistake? Swaped numbers?)

I downloaded this and afterwards I was not able to access any retail update or registration anymore
but only the Collectors edition download.
After installing the bonus content and enable of the collectors edition it crashed.

As I could also get a US-copy on CD (with incredible luck!) I decided to install this US version
with the a.m. downloads. It runs and displays 1.0x.2.

I also installed Stardock Central.

But I seem to have made a mistake somehow, as I already registered GalCiv1
a few years ago.

GalCiv 2 there says only installed 1.0x.010 (how comes as game screen indicates 1.0x.2)
I could also not find any beta 1.1 update.

I fear that I have totally botched up my registry/registration and will somehow not be able
to update this game.

I tried lookup serial no. and the e-mail says GalCiv 2 is registered under the 4E...no.

I could also not find in Stardock central how to download the english version (which I prefer).

Any ideas what has gone wrong with the update/registration ?
Whom to contact on this matter ?

I am very frustrated as I just bought the game and wanted to enjoy a nice weekend with it.

Soo, after taking a look an the files frogboy noted I risked starting the game and.....
it worked

a nice German menu sayed welcome to me.

So the only point is the mission (not patched) translation, but I'm shure this will be fixed the next time.

I'm writing these lines because I whant to inform you about there aren't any HUGE bugs, just about 100 lines of missing translation....

Thanks. I thougt the 1.1 beta is available in Stardock Central .

I am still not sure iStardock Central is correctly installed but I will wait.
It also says I can download the english version in stardock central. (I now have the US installed)

As I'm about to upgrade my stuff and get a new box for ES:Oblivion, I have a question:

I bought GalcivI2 via Stardock and downloaded/installed it with Stardock central. I KNOW I read something about burning
a copy of your game but I'm not able to find it.

Is it possible to burn a CD and install from there, without using Stardock Central?
If "yes" can I still update the game?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I didn't get results with the search function and my harddisk is going to be swapped out next week.
