Here is my first try at creating my own ship in detail. I did it using KHSM: Lite. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

I noticed something while creating ships. When I look at them straight on, the hardpoints are not exactly balanced on the sides opposite each other. It makes the ships seem lopsided. Is there a way to combat this? It's driving my perfectionist self insane.

It bothers me, too. But it's unavoidable; look at the long, flat, straight planks. They're WARPED. They're curved ever so slightly near the middle. I feel the exact same way you do. Lol

I do my best to avoid it, though.

Oh, and here's another ship I recently made. Meant for planetary defense off of one of the Altarian medium hulls...

Just finished a new ship. It's my first one using Kryo's excellent blank hulls mod! Thanks for making that; it made this project so much easier.

The Titan-class Superfreighter



This thing is massive. I have no idea what came over me to put it together. But it's four times longer than the Providence-class, which is based off of and twice as long as the Altarian cargo hull. It's basically the pride of the Korhal Confederacy, my trade empire.

I put my ships on imageshack.us for ease of use, and here they are:

Reclaimer-class Constructor


None of these ships are small (the Reclaimer's the smallest), but they are fairly simplistic and not too big of resource-hogs on my computer. All except for the Reclaimer, they're also hollow inside. So no ugly modules poking out all over the place.

You'll have to forgive me if it seems I can't make up my mind about things, because sometimes, I can't. Lol

Before I even read the words on the image, DG, I had that thought in my head... 'That'd be a great colonizer.' Great design, I like it!

Jericho (Battleship; Hull: Large)

Wow, awesome design. The others are great too but I particularly like the Jericho. I will have to try out that mod sometime, I'm starting to feel limited by the stardard jewellery.

omg. I am shamed. I usually just slap some parts on to give stuff a general shape.

BTW- somehow, my textures are not showing. what gives? I don't see anything on my ships, just the bare hull and trim colors.

is there a way to save ship designs that you want to keep and still use them in game at the same time dumping the designs from the primary holding filing

Wow. These awesome designs give me a lot more ideas. Here's 4 shots of 4 ships each that I made. 3 of these ships are from a whole line from tiny to huge I have for one of my civilizations, so you'll notice a common "theme". The Scorpion was just something I made for fun to give to Minor Races when war was declared against them. I like having as many civs trading with me as possible. Anyway, I didn't use the smaller stuff because honestly they look similar to a few already posted. And I do have to say, using black on the ships looks a lot better than I would have thought. Okay, I realized my problem posting images. This first one I call the Vindicator: This one I call the Warlord, part of my Halcyon empire strata of ship designs: This is of the Halcyon set, a medium vessel called, lamely, the Knight: Of course, I have designs for every ship size in the Halcyon set, but you can already get a pretty good idea by these three how the rest would probably look. Like I'm sure many of you do, I try to keep some common characteristics in a set. This next thing is the Scorpion, not really part of a civilization set but one I make to beef up minor races so they don't get easily obliterated in the late stages of the game. It isn't sleek like the Halcyon set but does have the added bonus of actually kinda looking like something recognizable:
