I'd highly suggest not getting frustrated by the early transfer speed.... When I started, 13-20 kb/sec -- but after a few minutes, speed kicked up to 500+ -- and what looked it might be a couple hour DL actually only took about 10-15 minutes (and no pre-order/pre-install....sorry!! Guess I'm one of the bandwith hogs screwing everyone else
. I'm one the people that will usually get frustrated and jump from one mirror to another -- but having no such option here, I'd just also suggest patience with DL.
So far - agree. I thought Civ IV gameplay really suffered with the introduction of so much eye candy -- but just from a few quick turns in a few games, kudos to the developers! It's not that I don't LIKE eye candy and the like -- just that I play strategy/turn-based games rather than the latest X-Box release for a reason. It's a rare and quite commendable effort --- slicker look and feel, but actually ADDS to an excellent title rather than trading gameplay for 3-D and the like. Seriously great job on keeping sight of what made GalCiv such a great game to begin with
I am having minor issues with game setup (for some reason - even on gigantic galaxies, can't seem to go beyond 4 civs, plus some issues with custom race setup) --- but let me echo the kudos above.
Just from an hour of play -- I can already see countless hours of enjoyment ahead of me.
