DOWNLOAD WOES!

Downloading problems here.

On Tuesday, February 14th users who were in the BETA program will be able to PRE-LOAD the game via Stardock Central.

On Wednesday, February 15th, all users who pre-ordered directly will be able to PRE-LOAD the game as well.

It requires an updated version of Stardock Central that has been designed to make use of our updated server farm infrastructure. So in theory, your download speeds should be very fast.

Stardock Central 2.29a or later is needed. Go HERE to get it.

However, some % of people are going to have problems. This thread is to make it easier for them (and us) to figure out what went wrong.

Important points:

1) Don't assume the problem you run into is universal. So if you run into a problem, please report it.

2) Give as much information as you can. The log info will be important.

3) There are 3 types of failure:

a) Server Time-Out -- this is where you lost connection to the server. We want to know about this as the new server farm should be able to handle 10X what we are expecting. Don't worry though, Stardock Central supports download resume.

User-Validation failure. This is where the system can't find your information in the database. Is the email address you used to order the same as the email address you used here? Once your order has been processed (i.e. beta users have already been processed, pre-orders will be processed the end of the day tomorrow) you will receive an email with info. If you lose this info, go here and put in the email address you think you used to buy the game.

c) Extraction error. This is where it has downloaded but it fails to properly extract. This should be pretty rare.

We are anticipating a 2% problem level. That is, 2% of users will run into some problem. That's approximately 100 people from the beta and initial direct pre-order group (we aren't assuming all users will try this out).

So this thread could get pretty busy. Stay tuned.

Howdy... I pre-loaded the GalCiv II data/Multimedia... but I am not seeing anything that is allowing me to download the rest of the game so that I can play it... It still says Installed is 0.81a.016 and nothing is available... my other system that I didn't preload the game on is seeing the new 1.0 version as available. Both systems have the 2.29 stardock installed.

I dont seam to have galciv 2 in my list of games so i cant start the download. i've tried updating the XML and changing servers as well as the usual restart the program and the machine.

I'm getting download speeds of a blistering 30k/s I should have a game in about 3 weeks at this pace. Is there some problem you guys are working on? At this point I'm regretting not running to the store.

I keep getting installation errors! WHile everything else went very smooth, I can´t get the movies installed...

Not sure what any of this means although I know that I don't own a Geforce 5700, I have a 6600.... Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Stardock is working with the extraction error issue. If you have problems downloading one of the folders (I had probs with the movies) then open SDC, go to the irc client, log on and go to #galciv and ask there. They can help you download this part manually as they did with me.

Finally got the tutorials on. Cant get the movies on for love nor money. It either times out or i get an extraction error.

Got a direct link for the movies from the irc channel a few days ago and for some odd reason I just got the multimedia. Given up on the tutorials for a while though... Great game and fantastic support on the irc channel, hope this game does excellently.

Hello all. I have a strange problem. Downloaded Stardock, installed and went through the registration, then nothing. The program just quit. If I try to start it, nothing happens. No screen, no error message, nothing. I tried uninstalling, rebooting, installing, rebooting and still the same trouble. Is there some sort of error log I can go looking for? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is anyone else having trouble downloading Stardock Central? After creating an account I am directed to a link.

After a long pause I am then welcomed by a 'Cannot find server' page error. I tried pinging 'sdc.stardock.com' and that works fine so I know the server is there... Is there an issue with the file being there?

I do not have issues with downloading files. I have downloaded exe's on many occasions.

I too am having trouble downloading the file I just bought. I thought that since most of the stores around here are out, I would buy a copy online. Then I go to download the file, and no luck. Is there a mirror out there somewhere?

hi i just paid for the game to download online but the URL for stardockcentral keeps sending me to a page not found,
the URL i used is http://sdc.stardock.com/sdcentral_setup.exe and it is not working! please tell me if there is an updated URL or if i should do something else
